We know bunnies don’t lay eggs, but Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs always make this time of year extra special.
For some family fun this coming holiday, follow this step-by-step guide on how to create your very own Easter cupcakes.

Gather your ingredients and measure out what you need before you start.

Pre-heat the oven and line a muffin tray with cupcake cases ready for your cupcake batter.

Mix your ingredients together for the cupcakes as per the instructions on the packaging.

Spoon the cupcake batter evenly across the cupcake cases.

Once the oven is up to temperature, place the tray in the oven and allow the cupcakes to bake for the allotted time. See packaging.

Once the cupcakes are baked, take them out of the oven and place them on a cooling tray

While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare your icing as per the instructions on the packaging.

Add a few drops of green food colouring to your buttercream icing and mix it until you have a grassy-green colour.

Fill a piping bag with the green icing and using a grass tip (Wilton 233), pipe some “grass” onto your cupcakes. *

Decorate your “grass” covered cupcakes with mini eggs, chocolate bunnies and flowers, whatever gives you Easter vibes.
And there you have it, your very own homemade Easter cupcakes to share with family and friends. Enjoy!
* If you do not have a piping bag or a grass tip, here are some alternatives to get the grass effect:

Colour some desiccated coconut with green food colouring and lay it out on a plate to dry. Spread the icing on the cupcakes with a knife and sprinkle the dried desiccated coconut over them. Alternatively, turn the cupcakes over onto the plate, lightly pressing down to ensure enough coconut sticks to the icing to give you the grass effect.

Spread the icing on the cupcakes with a knife. Then, using a fork, spike the icing up to look like grass.

Spread the icing on the cupcakes with a knife. Then, using the back of a spoon, swirl the icing until it starts to look like grass.
